Nick and Becky meet and through a mutual attraction, they heal and move on to fall in love.

This is such a heartwarming story and a joy to read.

I look forward to reading more written by Elizabeth Sinclair.

 What's Life Without the Sprinkles?What's Life Without the Sprinkles? by

I picked this book up as a freebie on Amazon.  It is such a cute story.  The author has such a delightful way of expressing herself.  This story actually had me laughing out loud at times.

This story is about a young unmarried woman with a 10 year old son.  She discovers that she is in love with her male best friend.  She sets out to prove to him that they belong together and should move the relationship from best friends to becoming a couple.

So if you enjoy a romance story that is light and fun to read, then you need to pick up a copy of this book.

 Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeleonTrouble in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law #1) by

Helena Henry is the dead mother-in-law to Maryse Robicheaux. Helena was never well liked in the town of Mudbug and her daughter-in-law was at the top of the list of people who couldn't stand her. Maryse is married to Hank, Helena's son, who disappeared 2 years ago.

Maryse's life suddenly gets exciting when the ghost of her dead mother-in-law starts haunting her.  Someone is trying to kill her and on top of it all she has a new and hot office-mate that is wreaking havoc on her hormones.

I really enjoyed this book. It is laugh-out-loud funny and cute. The mystery has just enough side tracking to keep you guessing, but not too difficult to figure out. The romance is just hot enough without being too steamy. The story started out with a bang but the ending was wrapped up too quickly.

The style is similar to Stephanie Plum, but not as silly.  Overall, this was an enjoyable and light read.

I recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

 A Secret Wish (Wish, #1)A Secret Wish (Wish #1) by

Such a wonderful and warm story.  Three women, three birthdays and one unforgettable night that will change their lives forever.

One night in San Francisco, three women make a birthday wish believing it can’t possibly come true. Liz is turning thirty. A successful nurse, she has a good career, but no man to share her life. All her friends are married, and she’s alone, still trying to outrun a tragedy from her past. Then she meets a handsome stranger who gives her a night she won't forget.

Angela, a member of a large, loving Italian family, is facing thirty-five with no baby in the nursery. Eight years of infertility treatments have put a strain on her marriage. Will she have to choose between her husband and having a child? When she is mugged by an unexpected assailant, her life takes a new turn and she discovers a way to become a mother after all.

Carole, a corporate wife, is staring down forty candles. Having grown up poor, she worked hard to get ahead, but when her kids bail on her birthday, and she discovers her husband with another woman, she realizes that she may have nothing at all. She goes back to where it all began, the mother she left behind, and the man whose heart she once broke.  She finds that sometimes you can go back and rediscover love.

I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a story with romance and real emotion.

Bridesmaid Lotto  A "Nook Friend" lent this book to me.  I was pleasantly surprised to be totally entertained while reading this story.  So, if you are looking for a funny, light, contemporary romance then this book should be on your TBR list.

I Think I Love You  I haven't read any Stephanie Bond books until I picked this up on Amazon.com.    The sibling rivalry and vengeful behavior of 2 of the sisters seemed extreme,  I have heard that some sisters can be that way. I did enjoy the murder mystery and did not really guess who murdered the Aunt until  Regina did.  Overall, I enjoyed this book and will be reading more by this author.

 Dead Case in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery, #3)Dead Case in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery #3) by

My first read by this author and what a pleasant surprise.

The story is about Violet Parker, a single mom working as a realtor by day and detective wanna-be the rest of the time.  Violet is so hilarious as a character with all her many escapades in sleuthing then add her hot and heavy "secret" romance with the Doc and this was a fun read.

Ann Charles has a marvelous way of writing character interactions that keeps you interested and engaged in the read.  I especially enjoyed Violet's interactions with herself.

I will definitely be reading more of this series.

The Delphi Chronicle, Book 1 - The ManuscriptThe Delphi Chronicle, Book 1 - The Manuscript (ebook)  by

If you enjoy political thrillers then this is a must read.  This story brought to life all my worst thoughts and fears about the government and how corrupt it truly is.  I know this is a work of fiction, but I would not be surprised if the government did do any of the things this author writes about.

Great story with such well developed characters and plot.  The main character, Michael, who is ex-military and operates a security company, is asked to help out a literary agent friend.  Michael becomes embroiled in a government conspiracy regarding a missing manuscript after his friend is murdered.  If this manuscript becomes public knowledge, America would discover how corrupt the government is and exactly what the "War on Drugs" is really about.  The government does not want this to happen and will kill everyone they think may have knowledge of it.

I can't wait to read the next book in this story to see what happens next.

 Betrayal of Magic (Department of Magic Book, #1)Betrayal of Magic (Department of Magic #1) by

 I downloaded this book as a "freebie" at Amazon.  I am so glad that I did.  I wasn't sure what to expect as this author and the story are unknown to me.  What a great surprise this book was.  I was drawn into Cadan Johnson's story right from the first page and had a hard time to put it down as I wanted to see where the author was taking me next.

I was so surprised at how well written this story is.  I was happy that the author did not write these young characters as goofy.  I have read other stories about teens/young adults and the conversations they have seem too childish and immature.   All the young characters in this story are well formed, mature, with a lot of depth and intelligence.  This made the story so very interesting to read.  I did not skip over sections as I sometimes find myself doing with other YA stories.  There was so much purpose and meaning in everything this author wrote that made this story so interesting and fascinating to read.

This is one well written YA Paranormal story and one that would make a great movie.  Great competition for Harry Potter.

I am looking forward to reading the next story in this series.

Crazy LoveCrazy Love by

My first read by this author, Nicola Marsh. Very cute story line. The interaction between the 2 main characters was fun to read. I only rated this story 3 stars as I felt it could have used a meatier plot. There were too many story lines going on all a one time and moving back and forth from all those different characters and their thoughts and feelings was hard to follow at times. It also made what could have been a great read into just a cute and fun read. I would have enjoyed the story more if the author had stayed with the 2 main characters and brought the other story lines into play through their perspective rather then through all the other characters.

All in all I did enjoy this cute story and may pick up another Nicola Marsh story down the road.

by

I picked this up as a freebie on Amazon and glad that I found this.  I am always looking for paranormal stories and this was such an interesting twist on the vampire lore.  Add in some demons, the devil and his offspring, shadows and an evil Queen and you have a very interesting story indeed.  I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series to see what happens to this human/vampire love story.

 A Gift of GhostsA Gift of Ghosts (Paperback)

by

This book kept bringing the TV show Eureka to mind  and I almost put the book away.  I made a decision to stick with it a little bit longer and I am glad I did.  Once I got further into the story it took on a life of its own.  Interesting ideas about ghosts were presented which made the story different and unusual.

If you like ghost stories then pick up a copy of this book.  You will not be disappointed.

 Soul Identity (Soul Identity, #1)Soul Identity (Soul Identity #1)

This is an exceptional story.  Such an interesting variation on the reincarnation of life.  Saving the "identity" of a person's soul through their eyes and matching the soul "identity" throughout the centuries. Add a little espionage, murder, mayhem and religious belief to the mix and you have the formula for a heck of a read.  This is a read that I recommend to anyone who is in search of something new and different.  I would love to see a 2nd book based on this story just to see what happens next.

The Inn at Rose Harbor: A NovelAnother great story from Debbie Macomber.  I was sad when I finished the book.  I will miss these characters so much.  I feel like I got to know them on a personal level.  A young woman buys the "Inn" after her military husband is killed while deployed to Afghanistan.  The "Inn" is a place where troubled people can find peace and happiness.  Such a wonderful idea and one that I will read about again.

From the opening paragraph to the close I was drawn into the lives of several people.  I felt like I knew each one of them personally by the time I finished reading the book.

I wish to thank Debbie Macomber and  Kristin Fassler, the Marketing Director at Random House Inc. for the opportunity to read this book before it hits the streets in August.

I look forward to another story about "The Inn at Rose Harbor".

Growing Up Bronx   I want to thank the author, H.A. Hargreaves, for the gift of his book "Growing Up Bronx".  I enjoyed reading about your growing up years in the Bronx.  Brought back things my parents had shared with me about their childhoods during the depression and beyond.

Though I was born in the late 50's a lot of the things you shared in your book I also have found memories of from my early childhood.

Again, thanks for providing me with a gifted copy of your book.

 On Mystic Lake  Such a great read.  This is one story that would make a wonderful "Girlie" movie.

The story centers on a woman who married young, and becomes "lost" to herself during her 20 year marriage.  When her husband announces he is in love with someone else, is moving out and wants a divorce; she runs home to Washington State.  She arrives at her father’s home a sad and depressed woman.  Along the way she rediscovers herself, finds joy and happiness, and falls in love with an old friend from high school.

The story takes an interesting twist with an unexpected pregnancy and she goes back to her old life in California with her husband to try to make things work.

In the end they break up after months of unhappiness that is felt by everyone.  The book ends with Annie and her infant daughter heading back to Washington State.

Kristin Hannah, I would love to see a sequel to this book and find out what happens next in the life of Annie.

Sunrise Point (Virgin River, #19) This is the first book I have read in the Virgin River series.  I plan on reading the other books in the series as I find them.

Such a wonderful and heartwarming story.  I usually reserve this type of book to read when I need to feel uplifted.  This story certainly gave me that.

The story centers around a very young woman that is unmarried with 2 small children.  She is very poor and works hard to provide for her children and herself.  Though her life is tough, this young woman is so happy.  She has so much joy and love in her life. It is good to read a story that provides Christian values to readers.  I felt like I was part of her story and watched her meet and fall in love with a kind and thoughtful man.

I recommend this book to romance readers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Glimmers  I want to thank the author, Barbara Brooke, for choosing me as a winner of "Glimmers" during her recent book giveaway here at Goodreads.
I have been a long time fan of time travel stories. I especially enjoyed the way the author opened the story with the main character on a shopping spree. I really thought she was shopping until I discovered she was just reliving a recent one while driving her children to school.
The main character is young, married and has two small children. She has "glimmers" when she comes into contact with 3 different objects. She experiences a look into the lives of these 3 woman the objects belong or belonged to. Each of these experiences help this young woman in her own life. This was such an interesting way to write a time travel story.
This was such a good read and I recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys a good time travel story.
 A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1)  What an amazing story! This was one book I could not put down. I read this book during my "internet blackout" the first 2 weeks after I moved into my apartment.
If you are a fan of paranormal and romance you will love this book! The author brings into play both fictional and historical characters. This story includes witches, vampires and daemons. A wonderful mix of romance and suspense written with such whimsy and humor. The story centers around a young woman who denies her "witch" bloodlines. She thinks she is living her life as an ordinary human. She meets and falls in love with a vampire who helps her realize and accept herself and her family history. Their romance sets off a war within the underworld as they have broken the ultimate rule. Vampires and witches do not mate!
I can't wait to read the second book in this series. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the paranormal/romance genre.
 Flat Belly Diet! by Liz Vaccariello I have heard so much hype about this book.  I found it in a clearance bin at a local Ocean State Job Lot store here in Massachusetts.
This book had a few new and interesting things in it that I will incorporate into my daily eating habits in hopes that I can continue to not need insulin.  I have been pre Type 2 diabetic since the birth of my second child.  Now that I am in my mid-fifties I am having more trouble maintaining with just diet and exercise.
Otherwise this book isn't much different then any other "fad" diet out there.
Summer IslandI didn't have this book on my currently reading list. I picked this up last weekend along with another book from this author. I started reading this Wednesday night. Massachusetts is having a heat wave and I do not have air conditioning. I thought this would be a good book to read during the hot, sticky and sleepless nights.
I finished reading this story at 4:45 AM this morning. Some books should come with warning labels so you will know the story between the covers may cause you to feel a variety of emotions. There were times I found my laughter or smile quickly changing to tears.
This story is about a woman who walked away from her marriage and her 2 daughters. She becomes a radio celebrity with her own show. She gives advice to callers on a variety of issues. Then something from her past is made public and she becomes undesirable. She gets suspended from her talk show and her fans quickly turn their backs on her. She becomes the latest "news".
She finds herself in the house she lived in with her husband and children. Her youngest daughter, who she had no contact with for many years, is staying with her. From that point on unfolds a story of a mother and a daughter trying to find a way to come to terms with each other and a past that caused so much pain.
This is a remarkable story in so many ways. A family coming to terms with a painful past, secrets, forgiveness, rebuilding of relationship between a mother and her daughters, loss of a close family friend and the renewal of a childhood romance.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre.
 Her Fearful Symmetry  I purchased this book at B&N a couple of weeks ago and what a wonderful read this has been. I finished reading it last night and didn’t want the story to end.  This story had such an abundance of odd characters and took so many unexpected turns.  It was very interesting the way the author provided POV's from all the characters.  At one point I was taken quite by surprise, I won't share why as I don’t ruin it for those that haven’t read it yet.
I certainly look forward to reading more by this author.
If you love a good murder mystery then pick up a copy of this book.  You won't be disappointed.
Front Cover This was such a great non-fiction read. Everyone should read this book. At one point or another we all find ourselves using "food" as the cure. Thanks so much Meryl for writing this book and putting so much of your own personal journey into it. There was so much information to absorb that I will be taking time in the near future to re-read your book.
Again, thanks so much for sharing your journey.
Another Broken Wizard
Thanks to the author, Colin Dodds, for selecting me as a winner in his giveaway.
It was odd to be reading a book based on an area I had just moved to in March. The main character, Jim, came back to his hometown to be with his dad. His father having surgery and needed someone to stay with him as he recovered. Jim seemed to resent having to be there as he had not spent much time in his hometown in years. He meets up with an old buddy and manages to get involved in some shady dealings. Takes care of his dad and tries to pursue a romantic interest. I won't say more for those of you who haven't read this yet.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend this to anyone who likes to read a general fiction now and then.
Again, thanks to the author for selecting me as a giveaway winner. I will be sure to read more of your work in the future.
 Rainwater  First of all, I want to thank the author, Sandra Brown, for the gift of this wonderful story.
I have read a lot of books written by Sandra Brown over the years and have been a fan of her work throughout. This story, Rainwater, will be placed on my bookshelf labeled special and will be reread many times.
I would love to see this made into a movie. It brought back memories of how "Love Story" made me feel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Columbus Avenue Boys I want to send my thanks to David Carraturo for sending me a gifted copy of his latest book, Columbus Avenue Boys.

I read his first book "Cameron Nation" and enjoyed it immensely. This latest in the CAB saga is even better. This wonderful story is begging to be made into a movie. I was reminded of several famous gangster movies. "Scarface", "The Godfather", "Once Upon A Time In America" and "The Departed" to name a few.  I enjoyed  t
he "flashes" into the past as they corrolate to what is happening in the "now", how these fit in with the family members, their actions and behaviors.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 The Snow ChildWhat a wonderful, heart warming story. The beginning of the story where the couple are just "existing" was so sad. Then this child comes into their lives and makes so much change for both of them. A remarkable story.
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading Jodi Picoult, this story made me feel the same way as when I read one of Picoult's books.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Map of TimeThis is one exceptional story. I wish I could give this 10 stars.

Time travel, a love story, a murder, and a mystery all wrapped up between the covers of this novel. I haven't enjoyed reading a book this much in such a long,long time.

If you are a fan of "The Time Machine" then this story you must read.

I look forward to reading the second book in this trilogy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Book of LoveI read the first book in this trilogy "The Expected One" about 2 years ago and found this such an interesting and thought provoking read.
The second book "The Book of Love" is just as good a read as the first book was.
The author has such an amazing way of writing a fictional story based on biblical characters.  I feel like I have gotten to know Mary Magdalene on a personal level through the pages of this book.
I am looking forward to reading Book 3 in this series.
April 2012
The Hero Chronicles: A Complete CollectionI finished reading this series April 20th.  The story takes place in the future and includes traveling into the past.  The use of the present-past provides you with the history behind what is happening now.  The main characters in this story are teenagers who all have abilities and powers.  There are fairies, elves, mystical creatures, good and evil.  The 2 central characters are the Princess of Destiny and the Silver Knight.  As you read you see them go from immature teens to a more mature young adult as they deal with quests and the fight to save humanity.  I enjoyed this YA series so much.  I look forward to reading more from Christine Schulze.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  I finished reading this book April 22.  This is a very good read.   I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good read that involves gambling, politics and murder.  The prologue caught my interest as it started the story off with a murder.  The author kept my interest right to the very end.  I look forward to future books by this author.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Oppression (Children of the Gods, #1) This first book in the Children of the Gods series was an enjoyable read. For a new author, Jessica has created a unique story line. I was intrigued by the use of Greek Mythology with modern day. Mixing old lore with modern details and characters. This was such an interesting read. I look forward to the next book in this series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Blow Out (FBI Thriller, #9) This was an interesting twist on an FBI investigative novel. A killer, a ghost and the people affected. Interesting story line that was a pleasure to read. Very entertaining story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Vanish in Plain Sight (Amish Suspense, #2)This is the first book I have read written by this author. I enjoyed this story so much and didn't want it to end. The story delves into the Amish culture and includes the non-Amish living in Dutch Pennsylvania. Throughout the story you read about the ways and beliefs of the Amish. As well as follow an interesting story about the mysterious disappearance of a young child's mother. This young mother was a banned Amish woman who left the church to marry a non-Amish young man. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Murmurs: Gathered Stories Vol. One This book was a surprise to me. The stories were dark and twisted. Though I normally do not read stories of this nature, I enjoyed reading these. The author has such a way with words and sentence structure that I felt drawn into the stories. The base emotions brought to life throughout this book are very compelling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 Die Before I Wake Laurie Breton is so good at weaving a story that grabs you and sucks you into the pages. You read faster and faster wondering what twist in the plot she will introduce next. Die Before I Wake is a wonderful Romance/Mystery and I recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys reading this genre. Other then the basics of the story I will not give details as I don't want to ruin the story for anyone who will want to read it.

The story is about a 30 year old woman who goes on a Cruise and meets Mr. Wonderful/Mr. Right. All seems great until they arrive in Maine to be met by his brother at the airport. They arrive at the house to his mother who is not happy or welcoming to have the new wife there. He has 2 young daughters. The youngest just wants to have a mommy to love and tuck her in. His oldest daughter is quieter, more withdrawn and makes these gloomy announcements to the new "wife/mom".

From there you are dragged into the story behind the 1st wife and how she died. Add to this the mysterious accidents the new wife suffers and you find yourself unable to put the book down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charactered Pieces: stories Charactered Pieces is such an interesting read. Some of the stories are very disturbing in nature. The gritty, stark and sometimes depraved nature of how these stories are written is both disturbing and provoking. I had many emotions and thoughts as I went from story to story. The Camel Of Morocco stands out as one that made me feel the most disgust as I visualized the bloodletting and drinking. The story that I enjoyed the most is The Camp for the sheer human emotion felt at the loss of a loved one and how those left behind deal with the pain of this loss.
Many thanks to the author for bringing these stories to publication.
P.S.: I also want to thank the author Caleb J Ross for providing me with a free edownload copy of his book.
Impending Doom
I participated in this author's book giveaway and received this autographed copy from Kya Aliana.  I want to congratulate you on publishing your first novel. I just finished reading it early this morning. I enjoyed your story so very much. You show great maturity in your writing for such a young lady and I am very impressed. I look forward to reading more of your work over the years.
My thoughts on the story itself. I like how this author incorporated pieces from other vampire stories into this once. The reference to the glittery skin as depicted in the Twilight Series for one example. I have read a lot of variations and yours fits in very well with all of them. The young man who meets and falls in love with a fledgling vampire girl. Then his desire to save her from her fate and destroy the head vampire so she can become human again. The ending was a very nice touch as I was unsure what was going to happen to the young lovers and his little sister. I won't say more as I don't want to ruin the story for anyone who has yet to read it.
Very well done Kya. Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity to read your first novel.
Gents with no cents  I want to thank the Author for participating in the Goodreads Book Giveaway. I was happy to be a winner and receive a copy of Ron DeLegge II's book.
I enjoyed reading this non-fiction look at Wall Street and investing. actually found myself laughing as I was learning a little about the world of investing.
The poem that started on page 41 and ended on page 42 made me laugh so much. Brought back memories of how I felt a couple years ago when my investments were losing money. At the time I didn't find it funny, but the poem definitely helped me find the humor in it. Thanks for sharing it in your book.
I recommend this book "Gents With No Cents" to anyone who wants to learn how Wall Street and investments work that is written with humor but provides you with information.
